About

Emily Berry is a Creative Writing PhD student at Birkbeck University of London researching the role of humour in medical memoirs by women. As part the course she is writing her memoir which is an absurdist romp through a summer of breast cancer, bed bugs and fertility treatments. She has been workshopping the text at City Lit in London, UK and Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA, USA.

Previously she worked as a corporate communications professional and journalist.

Since relocating from Jersey City, NJ to London, UK, Emily has become an active member with London Colour Walk and The Artist Recovery Club. She is one of the artists profiled in photographer Colin Allen’s Characters of the London Colour Walk book.

She holds an M.S. in Journalism from Boston University, and a B.A. in Communication studies from Case Western Reserve University.

Emily is addicted to going to ticketed events and waiting in long lines.
